On Tuesday night we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Dobwalls for a SWPL encounter.

Our opponents have got off to a flying start winning their first 5 matches and opening a 5 point gap at the top of the table.

It’s been a tough start to the season for us and on Tuesday night it doesn’t get any easier. I was so disappointed to lose to St Austell last Tuesday. Don’t get me wrong they are a decent outfit that properly popped us at times, but to create the quality of chances we did and only score one is something that’s still got me scratching my head 7 days on.

I haven’t quite got the balance between attack and defence right as yet, however judging by the results in the division and the Vase, defending well seems to be a dying art!!

Having said that, our opponents seem to have it right at both ends and that’s maybe why they sit where they do in the table and we are half way up.

I was able to get some minutes into Lewis Prince last week which was a bonus. With lockdown prior to his injury, Lewis hadn’t played for almost 6 months so we will have to manage his comeback carefully but he will be a real bonus sooner rather than later.

The same approach will be taken with Sam Gerken who has been strengthening his ankles for the past couple of months following a setback. Tonight has come too soon for him, however he could well be in the mix for Saturday.

Ben Williams, Callum Bertrand and Ryan Yeoman are in the squad following minor knocks, while skipper Tom Strike is suspended following his incredibly harsh sending off at Falmouth, as is Tom Crowe.

If this is like last seasons 2-2 match this will not be one to miss, that match had everything!!

Enjoy the game everyone.
Rower.
