After our false start on Saturday, we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Falmouth Town on Tuesday night to Bodieve Park.

It’s great to be getting going again after the lockdown. These periods can be quite testing for a group of players. The lads we have here now at the Club are very good mentally, they prepare well and have been all business in the way they have gone about about things so far this season. We have prepared the best we can against the backdrop of a lockdown.

For me whilst obviously we need to keep on top of the high physical levels we have attained, I think it’s equally important that mentally we don’t allow ourselves to ‘drift’ too much in these quiet periods.

For the first week, I gave myself some time off from everything. Stepped right away from it. I think the lads needed it after an incredibly busy start and I know I did.

Over the next 3 weeks we have built things up again to the point where we are ready to go today, albeit I’d have liked to have got a practice match in midweek but the weather was against us for that.

The fixture down at Falmouth was the highlight of the season, it just seemed a day when much of this lousy year felt cast to one side, glorious weather, loads of supporters and a 5 goal thriller. Whatever happens tonight, I won’t be repeating my sprint down the touch line!!

Over the summer we altered the style of the way we played so it was more transferable through the changing seasons. With the rain we have had and the more that is due, it will be an opportunity to learn what we are like in the heaviest of conditions within the plans we have in place, for sure.

One of the biggest cliches in football is to take one game at a time. With all the uncertainty around this season, I don’t think it’s ever been more relevant. All I know is that come Tuesday the staff and players will be ready to go for this one. I can’t wait.

Enjoy the Game
