The Reserves have had a bad week, losing both of their opening games in the ECPL. Tuesday saw us lose 0-3 to Bude at home, following a poor display. Yesterday's visit to Saltash ended in a disappointing 4-1 loss. With five players in the first team squad for yesterday, losing Danny Witts in the warm up & playing sevral players out of position, perhaps we had an excuse! But to be honest our overall performance level was poor with a lack of effort and determination in sevral areas. The game began well and for the first twenty minutes we controlled the play, without creating many chances, but Saltash found their way in, and scored just before half time to take a deserved lead.
Again we started the second half well, but faded to allow the home side to run in three more goals. A late rally saw Ben Beesley score the best goal of the game with a 30 yard left foot strike which left the keeper with no chance!
Launceston visit Bodieve on Tuesday and with all players available, we should expect an improved performance! At least the First team got three valuable points with a 2-1 win over Clyst Rovers....well done lads!
