Young Bridgers celebrate Cup Win!

WTFC Under 11's are celebrating after a fine 4-2 win over Probus in the final of the East Cornwall Youth League Under 11 cup. The youngsters dominated the game from start to finish, playing in a howling wind and driving rain against the current league champions, who were unbeaten in over two years....until today!
The Wadebridge boys adapated to the conditions better and had most of the possession in the first half, but they twice had to come from behind to secure the win, as Probus made the most of their limited chances to score first, which was soon equalised by Joe Ahearn. Another break from Probus resulted in a corner from which the ball was bundled home to make it 2-1 Probus. Matt Powis had to make a smart save to tip the ball over the bar to keep the game close, before young Joe, nipped in to score the equaliser for Wadebridge.
The second half was a bit more even, with both teams having shots on goal, unfortunately for Probus, they found Joe Ahearn in great form and he added two more to his tally to make the final score 4-2. Probus made a game of it in the last ten minutes, but strong defending and great Goalkeeping from Matt Powis ensured the trophy came back to Bodieve. The successful squad, who managed to grab 3rd spot in the league as well, are:- Matt Powis, Ossie Beesley, Joe Ahearn, Jordan Stone, Harry Webster, Ross McLaughlin, Aiden Hewitt, Danny Thurtle, Callum Wilson, Josh Old and Josh Stawski. Well done boys you wre excellent today!

The Under 10's played in the play off to decide the destiny of the ECYFL Under 10 league, but were unfortunately beaten by Probus on penalties, following a hard fought draw. Never mind guys, you can bounce back next season and add to your impressive list of honours.
