Welcome to the players, management and supporters of Sticker for this Kitchen Kit SWPL match.
We always knew Helston away was a tough task for our first game but performances at the back end of pre season had us all believing we could go down there and be competitive. For the first 20 minutes we looked really strong, closing them down with intensity and intelligence and looking progressive on the ball.
Unfortunately we switched off at a short corner and went behind. What ensued was a Wadebridge trait that we are desperately trying to leave behind.
We seem to lack the personality to continue to do the things we know serve us well, get jittery once we concede. We abandoned everything we had worked on for the previous 6 weeks and went in at half time 3 down. Clinical Helston were good value for 5-0 in the end.
Whilst one game against a team that looks certain to finish in the top two doesn’t define us, we will have to deal with adversity better than we did on Saturday.
This time of the season gives you an opportunity to right your wrongs quickly and tonight provides us with that.
Sticker in contrast to ourselves, got off to a super start with a 4-1 victory at Porthleven and will arrive here full of confidence.
We will have to get back to doing what we do well quickly, if we are to get the 3 points we are desperate for.
We welcome Rob Rosevear back who was unavailable for Helston but the game will almost certainly come too soon for Rory Jarvis (ankle) to make his competitive debut for the Bridgers.
Delighted to report that Sam Gerken’s ankle rehab is going well and after some reflection is keen to return to the group in the coming weeks.
Enjoy the game everyone
Rower.
