Check out our match report and photos from Saturday’s defeat in the FA Vase to our local rivals Camelford.
The Gaffer’s Summary
“Obviously disappointed to go out on pens. I didn’t think we brought our current form to the match but much credit must go to Camelford who carried the greater threat in the first half and stifled us when we had the upper hand in the second period.”
Match Report
A great game for local football as we visited our local rivals Camelford for a cup match in the national FA Vase competition in the 2nd Qualifying Round.
Camelford held the upper hand in the 1st half where we failed to impress our normal game on the hosts as their expereince held us at bay.
At the same time we held Camelford to only a couple of efforts on our goal with Rob Rosevear only having to make one outstanding save down low to his right to deny a Connor Rhodes effort.
HT: Camelford 0-0 Bridgers
After an honest half time chat we came out much more like our real selves and as the game went on we were the dominant team, as we wore down the hosts. As the game wore on it looked like if extra time was played there would have only been one winner. Unfortunately for us there was no extra time and when the final whislte went and neither team had managed to break down 2 dominant defneces, penalties were on the menu for all to enjoy.
FT: Camelford 0-0 Bridgers
The 1st 11 penalties were buried and unfortunately someone had to miss and it was our 6th penalty that decided the fixture.
Pens: Camelford 6-5 Bridgers
Very best of luck to Camelford as they progress to the 1st Round proper of the FA Vase.
