We welcome the players, staff and supporters of Falmouth Town for this SWPL encounter on Saturday.
I was hoping to come into this game with a 100% record to match our opponents, but it wasn’t to be after a poor performance at Launceston midweek.
I spoke at length with the players after the game. Whilst I fully accept that levels of technical performance can peak and trough, we are step 6 players and management after all, what I found bewildering was our level of aggression off the ball was really low.
I talk about making sure we have consistency in the things we can control and I feel intensity comes into that category. Launceston did to us, what we pride ourselves in, they outworked their opposition. I expect a response in that department today, the lads are really honest characters, and that was a rarity.
Today’s opponents are flying. Five wins out of 5 and 20 unanswered goals has seen them emerge as everyone’s favourite for the title. I went down to watch them 2 weeks ago, there was a bit of a queue to get in, by the time I got in the ground they were two goals up!!
We will have to try to disrupt them, upset their rhythm and be clinical with our dangerous forwards.
Falmouth’s F Troop following are well renowned. I managed to bump into a couple in a bar whilst in Falmouth last weekend and I’m assured they have a decent contingent coming to Bodieve park today.
They are noisy in victory and have been generous in defeat in our last two visits to Bickland Park.
Let’s hope for some more plaudits at 5pm today
Enjoy the game everyone.
Rower.
