We welcome the players, staff and supporters of Newquay to Bodieve Park for this exciting FA Vase encounter on Saturday.
We come into this one after back to back wins against St Blazey and Callington
I was really mystified at how we almost managed to throw away a comfortable position against Callington.
We have a habit of switching off on games when we are cruising which is frustrating.
That gripe aside, we’ve played nine games now and won six of them and that represents a decent start to the season.
We’ve had no luck with injuries either
It looks like Sam Wickins may be added to the list of those unavailable, joining Tom Crowe, Tom Strike and Jacob Smale on the sidelines.
This is the first of two games in 4 days against our near neighbours.
Newquay, like ourselves have had a decent start and appear to be full of goals.
When the Vase draw was made, I’ll admit to being a little frustrated. Fixtures v St Austell and Newquay aren’t really the reason we’ve entered the vase so I challenged the lads to be the team to emerge from that draw and see if we can then get our day against a side we haven’t played before.
With the Senior Cup adjusted now, where the prospect of going to a different ground has diminished, this represents the best opportunity to set up a new challenge.
We will have to manage the game much better than we did against Callington for that to happen
Enjoy the game.
