We welcome the players, staff and supporters of Liskeard to Bodieve Park for this SWPL game on Wednesday evening.
With several players missing at the weekend, it was always going to be a tough task against Helston.
A 4-0 defeat tells its own story, but the nature of the goals we conceded was a real frustration for me.
The way we set up, letting crosses come into the box shouldn’t have been a concern but time and again, our opposition were able to get their centres in.
That aside, I thought the lads battled well, stuck to the task, but our naivety is undermining the good stuff.
I’m hoping to welcome a few faces back for tonight’s game. At the time of writing this, I believe I may have as many as six lads back, that were not available on Saturdays. That’ll help.
The injury situation we have at the moment provides two layers of problems .
Firstly, there’s the quality and options you miss. On top of that, it’s the same small group of lads that are playing Saturday/Wednesday/Saturday these lads are fatigued.
One bonus is I was able to hand Sam Arnold his debut on Saturday, just one day after his sixteenth birthday. He did well too.
The clashes with Liskeard over the last 2-3 years have been crackers, I thought our match up there last month was very good and I can see another belter tonight. We will be able to freshen things up and I expect a big performance as a consequence.
Enjoy the game folks.
