Check out the Gaffer’s thoughts as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Camelford to Bodieve Park on Friday night.
Unfortunately our 3 game winning streak came to an end at runaway leaders Falmouth on Saturday.
Taking the lead on two occasions, there was plenty to like about our performance. Every time we put a move together, it looked like we could hurt them. I thought we were worthy leaders at half time.
The second half got away from us a little. Physically we couldn’t match them. They are the fittest team we’ve come a cross, a plaudit we often received ourselves last season. They have the numbers they need in the middle of the park yet they can all get forward into the highest areas of the pitch
Most of our lads are putting plenty of work in between games and our levels have improved for sure. Wittser and Reevo are putting on some great sessions for the boys but we are playing catch up on where we were.
I have some sympathy for the players. After two truncated seasons it would have been mentally tough during Covid restrictions to find that personal drive to get the miles on then clock. I think we all now realise that we may have missed an opportunity this time around but training is flying now and we will physically finish the season strongly.
The arrival of Camelford sees the first of back to back derbies.
Reg has put a cracking side together there, they have a great mix of organisation, physicality and flair. I actually thought they would be the side to get closest to Falmouth and whilst that might not quite be developing, I think they will finish in the top 4 for sure
This will be my first notes since Tom Crowe and his partner Rihanne had their first child.
There’s no truth in the rumour baby Hugo has already picked up three yellow cards!!
Congratulations to you both.
Enjoy the game everyone
