Check out the Gaffer’s thoughts as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Newquay to Bodieve Park on Saturday.
A few days on and I’m still not sure how to feel about last Saturday’s match against Godolphin.
I asked the lads to start controlling games again and in part we did. We had progressive possession, penetrative when we could yet showing patience at times too.
I thought new signing Chris Reski grasped what was needed and typified the on ball decisions I wanted.
However as much as you have the ball, you can’t say you have overall control when you look as vulnerable as we did on Saturday. Godolphin’s possession to opportunity ratio, was way too high, not just in clear cut chances, but other moments when a little more quality from our visitors would have seen us in trouble.
Definite moves towards where I want us to be though.
Today we welcome Newquay.
We played the Peppermints twice in 4 days earlier in the season at a time when we were struggling with unavailability, losing convincingly at home in the Vase and getting edged out 2-1 in the league.
I’d like to think we can give a much better account of ourselves this time around.
One player that is yet to return is Lewis Tonkin who has been keeping us updated on his progress during his RAF basic training.
We are hoping to get him back in the squad early Feb. Fitness shouldn’t be an issue!!
Finally I’d like to congratulate our ladies on their great win at a Wendron at the weekend.
Let’s hope we can can follow suit.
Enjoy the Game
