The Gaffer’s Reflections

Really pleased with the way we stayed in the game for the first 30 minutes. I thought St Blazey were excellent and we couldn’t get a foothold in the game in that period.

We were excellent defensively and that gave us the platform to grow into the game and I thought we looked the most likely in the last quarter of the match.

A nice win against a very good side.

Match Highlights

Andy’s Report

Wadebridge 1-0 St Blazey
Jacob Smale 90.

HT: 0-0. Att: 204

The Bridgers moved up to 2nd place in the table with this well deserved victory over previously unbeaten St Blazey.

Undeniably, the Green&Black’s had the better of the 1st half with 10 attempts on goal, but found Bridgers stopper Rob Rosevear in top form to keep his fifth clean sheet of the season. Even when an attempt did get past, there was MOM Steve Simmonds lurking on the goal line to clear the lines.

HT: 0-0

The Bridgers were more determined in the 2nd half and gradually got the upper hand as the half wore on.

The introduction of Subs, Jacob Smale and Tom Shepherd in the 53rd minute gave the Bridgers more pace on the wings.

It was in the 85th minute that the Bridgers faithful thought the ball would find the net, but Jacob Smale’s shot hit the post.

But Jacob was not to be denied as, in the 90th minute he produced another superb shot that curled into the top corner of the net to secure the 3 points.

FT: 1-0.
