Check out the Gaffer’s Thoughts as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Bude Town to Bodieve Park.
Good afternoon everyone.
Our first home game of a new campaign.
These occasions are usually full of hope and expectation and that may well still be the case, however I write this on the eve of our fixture against Liskeard, having suffered a 7-2 humiliation away at Wendron on Saturday.
I’ve never experienced anything like the spell where we conceded 6 in 20 minutes before, either on the pitch or in the dugout.
As is common with any new season, we have a few new players to introduce
We added exciting forward Kieron Bishop from title winners St Austell, Harry Hopcroft has rejoined the club from Bude and will add ball playing quality from the back or holding mid.
I was delighted to bring Tom Savigar into the Club from Liskeard. Tom is a very technical, tactically aware player who will improve us for sure.
We’ve also recently captured Dylan Peters from Bodmin
Dylan is a player I’ve known for several years and he is starting to fulfill the huge promise he showed as a young player at Plymouth Argyle.
We had one notable exit from the Club. Jaffa has moved on to St Blazey. He was averaging something like a goal a game for the Bridgers. Players with those numbers don’t grow on trees and we will look for the lads to chip in from all over the pitch.
Today’s opponents Bude will have a different look to the team we did the double over last season. They lost on the opening day to Dobwalls, but I think the Dingos will be right up there this season, so no disgrace in that result.
Morgan Vallejo and Tom Harris have picked up injuries that will keep them out for a few weeks and Haiden Chapman and Lewis Webber start 3 game suspensions, so the squad will be utilised to the full in the coming weeks.
Hopefully our home programme starts with a win and we can put last Saturday firmly behind us
Enjoy the game
Rower.
