Check out the Gaffer’s Thoughts as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Cheddar in the FA Vase to Bodieve Park.

It has been a hectic start to the season. I’m writing this on August 18th and we have completed a sixth of our league campaign already!!

I spoke in my last notes of having to bounce back from our horrendous performance against Wendron and I’m pleased to report we have.

We were much improved at Liskeard, despite losing by the solitary goal and we have followed that up with 3 consecutive wins against Bude, Launceston and Millbrook in the last week.

We have played some superb stuff in these games and it has renewed my hope that we can be towards the top end of the table this season

Player availability has been a real challenge, we have a squad of 21 but have had to rely on 13-14 core lads in all of these games. The results have been a real credit to them.

One of our shining lights, Tom Savigar is looking at an extended spell on the sidelines, after breaking his collar bone against Millbrook. We all wish him a speedy recovery.

We have also been missing Morgan Vallejo, Tom Harris and Harry Hopcroft to medium term injuries too. Throw in the inevitable holidays and it’s been a real challenge.

We welcome back Lewis Webber and Haiden Chapman from 3 game suspensions for today’s FA Vase encounter with Cheddar.

The Vase is a brilliant competition and always gets the attention of the lads, staff and supporters.

It’s fair to say we have under achieved in this tournament in my time at the club, failing to reach the first round proper, with a catalogue of hard luck stories to go alongside some underwhelming displays.

A local derby against Bodmin awaits in the next round,s o there is even greater focus on us getting the job done today.

I know nothing about our opponents, Cheddar, apart from the fact they carry a similar league position to Bishop Sutton, the Western League opponents, whom we met at the same stage last season. That was a really good, open game of football, that was only decided in the last 10 minutes.

We will be arriving with renewed confidence, hoping to take the game to the visitors.

Hope you all enjoy the game
