Check out the Gaffer’s Thoughts as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Dobwalls to Bodieve Park.
Often after a poor result a manager asks for a reaction.
My message ahead of our match v Sticker was to stick to the plan, don’t let opponents derail us.
The lads certainly did that and we ran out comfortable winners, despite a customary wobble before half time.
Without wishing to tempt fate, it does appear that the coming weeks should see us have more options as the holiday/ festival/ wedding season comes to an end.
One player that won’t be featuring is Noah Holmes.
If there is one lad leaving the club, that I hope goes on to better things, it’s this kid. What a superb attitude and no little ability either. We have quality AND experience in his area of the field and in the end we couldn’t quite get him the minutes he deserved. Sticker have a top lad
Dobwalls will be a proper test today. I watched them beat Torpoint pre season and came away thinking they could be title contenders. They’ve always been competitive but I feel they’ve added depth this season.
The league table suggests I may be right.
We will need to be at our best.
These notes are my first since the passing of Wadebridge legend Mike Yelland.
I played both with and for Mike at the club, at either end of my playing journey, a superb all round sportsman, who had that rare ability to ‘hang’ in the air before despatching deadly headers.
It is however, the larger than life character away from the pitch, that will be my abiding memory of him. A hilarious chap, who could hold court for hours.
Wadebridge become a poorer place once dementia took hold of him and robbed us of many more years of belly laughs.
My thoughts are with Nick, Sammy and the family at this time.
A Bridgers win and a victory for his beloved Spurs in the North London derby this weekend, would be fitting.
Enjoy the game Everyone.
