Check out the Gaffer’s Thoughts as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Liskeard Athletic to Bodieve Park.
Our results this season continue to be a little up and down.
I said to the lads before the Bude game last weekend, that our performances have outstripped our results but it’s the latter we all get judged on.
We are adapting to new lads and a new style and I’d be absolutely over the moon if we were sat on 4-6 more points at this stage.
We are a little inconsistent within matches and I think being good for longer, is the next step in our progression.
Bude was a similar story, superb for 45 but lost our way a little in the second half, rather than kicking on and putting the game to bed.
On this occasion, we got the result and we were delighted with that, Bude are going in the right direction, but I couldn’t help feel that we let teams back into games currently.
We have had injuries to Kyle Flew, Sam Gerken, Billy Hopcroft and Brad Rowe recently. With Sam Hepworth, Noah Holmes and Haiden Chapman leaving, it’s been a bit of a perfect storm, we have been short staffed and the lads have had to dig in, effort wise and that may be a mitigating factor for the inconsistencies described above.
I’m looking forward to selection headaches again!!
Liskeard have strengthened since we played them in August and can expect to be right up there again this year on that basis.
We were ok in defeat in the reverse fixture and we are certainly better equipped now ourselves.
A game I’m really looking forward to, if it ever stops raining!!
Enjoy the match everyone.
